This typeface has strong contrast without feeling overwhelming. It can be used in headings and design campaigns. The smaller sizes (9, 12, 14 and 16 points) are hinted in TrueType format for better legibility on Windows. The font is published in the Google Font directory as a free open font (OFL).
The flavour of the font is rather mixed. Its monolinearish, but has tiny bit of contrast (which increases the legibility a little in Mac OS X) In order to support windows users, smaller sizes 9,12,14,16 pt are painstakingly hinted in Truetype format.
In the Finnish language, Arvo means “number, value, worth.” Considering how much programming is behind hinting, ‘number’ is also true.
